The latest high end fashion label to work with Swedish high street brand H&M is VERSACE!... This collection should be really exciting and although Donatella Versace gushes of how thrilled she is to be working with the brand now, she didn't have those same sentiments back in 2008 when she stated to New York Magazine, "I respect everyone who does it. But the reason I didn't do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand,". However, instead of creating new less elaborate designs, she is raiding the collecitons put out by her late brother and Versace creator, Gianni in 1978. So this is seen more of an iconic collection, still having the luxury factor that is Versace.
Margareta van den Bosch, H&M creative director describes the collection as, "glamorous and flamboyant - everything Versace stands for". The collection will be released November 17, 2011 followed by a pre-spring line in January which will be available online.
Vogue.com says to 'Expect studded leather and colourful prints for the girls; sharp tailoring and plenty of bling for the boys - and substantial queues down Regent Street in November'
Lanvin for H&M sold out in a matter of minutes, I'm sure Versace will beat that. Definitely exciting news for us fashion lovers whose pockets probably couldn't reach Versace standards...yet!:)
