More recently, I tried a water marbling technique where you just use one colour and rubbling alcohol and I managed to make it work and look good on my nails! Since then, I've really wanted to give Water Marbling another shot! And, I think I've finally gotten the hang of it!
For this week's #CBBxManiMonday theme we chose "neon" and I think it is so perfect for Summer! Who doesn't love neon and bright nails?! The other polishes I used are Color Club in a neon yellow (unknown name) and Sally Hansen in "Hot Tamale"
The steps I followed for my Water Marble manicure were:
1. Nail cleanser and Base coat
2. One or Two coats of white base polish
3. With water in a cup, drop each polish one drop at a time in the water, then repeat the pattern - make sure the drops of polish spread out on the surface of the water (for reference I had 6 drops of polish for this, 2 of each colour)
4. Drag a toothpick across the polishes and create a pattern
5. Dip your finger in the polish and clear the rest of polish on the surface out of the way then remove finger from water and let dry
6. Repeat on all nails
7. Finish with topcoat
I honestly don't really have any tips or tricks to make water marbling easier - I have tried it so many time without success before! This time, I used plain tap water and it was fine. I think it's more important to test your nail polishes - some formulas just sink right to the bottom or don't spread out on the water surface and those just won't work! Test each polish before you get started and it will work easier!
Now that I've gotten the hang of it, I need to work on creating some better patterns with a little more practice!
