Buy It, Pay, Go Home

Every time I buy something online I remember how much I dislike buying things online.

The absolute joy of the veg box is that the ordering system assumes lots of people aren't going to be in 9-5 so it leaves a nice space for you to put specific instructions for the delivery driver. Why is that not common practice? I mean, maybe it is for some companies but not in my experience. Why are we still in the nonsense position where neighbours are expected to take in parcels? Last year a delivery person asked me if I would take in a parcel for my neighbour, as I'm not a totally miserable creature I agreed and he handed over a 55 inch telly.

How many people would you trust with a 55 inch telly? I know that wouldn't fit into a drop box, but like those lockers that have popped up outside supermarkets, houses should be built with them.

For my neighbours I've also taken in Hunter wellies, Hello Fresh recipe boxes, who knows how many packages of clothing. My neighbours don't know me - they don't know I'm not going to call the delivery bloke a liar and Ebay their gear.

I don't want to have to traipse to a shop to pick something up, if I wanted to go to a shop, I'd buy the thing from a shop in the first place. I also don't want my neighbours to be taking things in for me, it's annoying for everyone. Thankfully our house has a place to leave things, but then there's the signing issue, today I received a message to pre-sign which would have been ideal were it not to for the fact I entered a technological cycle of redirection. I was so narked about about 10 minutes I think I've managed to change the delivery date to the date the thing was supposed to be delivered in the first place.

I'm turning into one of those whinging middle aged women I was complaining about the other day.
